A New Addition to the Elenbaas-Rose home

by | Sep 30, 2013 | Uncategorized

As some of you may know, Mark and me got married this summer, finally making it official after almost nine years of dating. And now that we are not only partners, but husband and wife, we’ve decided to add to our family. No, not another cat to join Indy and Zoe. This time around, it’s going to be a new puppy! After careful deliberation, we decided to go with an Aussiedoodle. The breed combines the mellowness and smarts of a poodle (the breed I grew up with) with the tenacity and colouring of an Australian Shepherd.

The New Puppy, an Aussiedoodle

Here he is at 4 weeks!

At four weeks old, this little guy is a bit young to be bringing home yet — he’s still nursing from his mom, a beautiful Australian Shepherd named Jessica. His dad, a red Standard Poodle named Captain, helped to bring out his interesting coat.  The facilities at Burkhart’s Kennels in Wallenstein, Ontario are spotless. And we have some history there — Dr. Elenbaas’ first Goldendoodle, Bugsy, was born there.

Stay tuned to hear more about what to look for when choosing a breeder and a puppy, and what other considerations to make. I’ll be documenting the process as we go along, so there will be lots more pictures to come, and great tips to keeping you dog healthy, well behaved and safe. Our little munchkin comes home in three weeks, and we’re still looking for name suggestions!
